Refinish, recoat or replace?

• Full sand and refinish takes the floor back to bare wood. It is the usual route for deeper scratches, worn traffic paths or a change of stain color.
• Recoating adds a fresh finish coat over the existing one. It can suit floors whose finish is worn but whose wood is not damaged.
• Board repair or replacement may be needed where boards are cracked, stained through or water-damaged.

Changing the color.

What to expect.

• Furniture needs to be out of the rooms being refinished.
• The rooms will be unavailable while the finish dries and cures. Ask for the finish manufacturer’s times before you plan around them.
• Plan for pets, rugs and furniture pads before moving back in.

How do I know if my floor can be refinished?

Solid hardwood usually can be, and engineered hardwood depends on its wear layer. Share photos of the floor, any damaged areas and an exposed edge if you can find one.

Can you match new boards to my existing floor?

Ask about species, width and finish when you get in touch. Refinishing the whole room together usually gives the most even result.
